Whole home
- Remove all belongings, hangers and trash
- Dust ceiling fans, light fixtures and vents
- Wipe light switches, outlet covers and door handles
- Wipe doors, door frames and baseboards
- Clean interior windows, sills and tracks
- Spot-clean wall marks and scuffs
- Vacuum all carpet, including closets
- Sweep and mop all hard floors
- Wipe closet shelving and rods
- Replace burnt-out bulbs you installed
Kitchen
- Empty and wipe inside all cabinets and drawers
- Clean inside and outside of the refrigerator, including shelves and drawers
- Clean inside the oven, racks and broiler pan
- Degrease stovetop, drip pans and range hood filter
- Clean inside the microwave
- Run and wipe the dishwasher, including the door edge and filter
- Scrub the sink and faucet, clear the drain
- Wipe countertops and backsplash
- Clean the outside of all appliances, including sides if reachable
- Take out all trash and recycling
Bathrooms
- Scrub tub and shower, including tile and grout lines
- Clean glass doors and remove hard-water spots
- Scrub toilet, including base and behind the seat
- Clean sink, faucet and vanity top
- Empty and wipe inside vanity and medicine cabinet
- Clean mirrors
- Wipe exhaust fan cover
- Mop floor, including behind the toilet
- Remove any adhesive hooks and residue
Bedrooms and living areas
- Empty and wipe inside all closets
- Dust shelves, ledges and window frames
- Vacuum carpet edges and corners
- Remove wall anchors and fill visible holes if your lease requires it
- Wipe any built-in furniture
Laundry and utility
- Wipe washer and dryer exteriors, including the top and door seal
- Clean the dryer lint trap
- Wipe utility sink and shelving
- Sweep and mop the floor, including behind machines if accessible
Outdoor and final pass
- Sweep balcony, patio, porch or entry
- Remove outdoor trash and any plants you brought
- Clean the garage floor of debris and oil spots where possible
- Walk each room with the lights on and check from the doorway
- Photograph every room after cleaning, for your records
- Confirm keys, remotes, fobs and mailbox keys are ready to return
